The New Brunswick Varsity Reds are on the verge of a historic Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey season.
The defending national champion V-Reds are a perfect 23-for-23 so far this season and are right on target to improve on their AUS record 26-1-1 mark from 2007-08.
“They’re without a doubt the best team in Canada,” said Dalhousie Tigers head coach Pete Belliveau. “It’s theirs to lose. But what happens? You’ve got to play the games.”
The V-Reds could become the fifth team in CIS since 1962-63 to finish with a perfect record. The Western Ontario Mustangs most recently went 24-0 in 2002-03.
