A crash involving an alleged impaired driver Monday afternoon could have been much worse as the vehicle smashed into a patrol car, police said.
Police said officers received a call about a minor collision near 94 Street and Ottewell Drive, and a witness said that one of the drivers, who the officer alleged was impaired, got back in the car and tried to flee the area.
Just as a nearby school ended classes for the day, a police vehicle intercepted the slow-moving vehicle by a parking lot, officials said.
Ronald Lee Richardson was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol level over .08.
