Victims help with T perv crackdown, transit police say

Transit police are lauding wary and courageous victims for a recent uptick in the reporting of train-based sex offenses.

T officials have nabbed four men for sex crimes since the arrest of the neatly dressed Joseph Joyce, who was caught on a surveillance camera running through Kendall station after allegedly groping a teen girl.

“We think when one of these offenses happens and we make an arrest that it does encourage more people to come forward,” said Transit Police Chief Paul MacMillan.

The number of reported sex offenses so far this year is 65 — seven more the same time frame last year. The number of arrests and summonses issued — 19 — is also up.

The T also announced yesterday that it is looking for a man who allegedly took cell phone photos down a woman’s shirt and up another woman’s skirt while on a Green Line train near Government Center earlier this month.
