Carolina Panthers fan punches old man in face during Eagle game

During Thursday night’s Panthers-Eagles game, a Carolina Panthers fan sucker punched a 62-year-old man in the face multiple times, leaving him bloodied. The incident was captured on video.

Instagram user Warren Carrigan posted the video to Instagram during the game last night and it went viral. The video shows a man connecting a series of punches to the face of an older man, who remained seated and was trying to cover his face the entire time during the exchange. Fans sitting next to the 62-year-old man attempted to stop the attacker after but were unsuccessful. The 62-year-old man was seen holding his face with blood dripping from it.

dude bro & his chicka were standing for the entire game. words gradually got more and more escalated. there previously was a single mom and her son between us, they left halfway through the 3rd. after that, the lid was off. the dude took offense to the couple never sitting down and obstructing his view. the victim telling the dude bro how they’re being jerks and how rude they are for not sitting. the dude bro turns around and calls the victim a “geriatric fuck”, “faggot”, and “hick”. then sucker punches him right in the face. i don’t know if he got away or left in handcuffs, but i hope it’s the latter. edit: to clarify further, both the puncher and punchee were wearing Panthers attire. The assailant was seated in section 541, row 24, seat 10.

The person who recorded the video also posted the perpetrator’s seat and section numbers in the caption, making it easier for officials to identify the attacker.

On Friday, the Carolina Panthers released an official statement about the incident, saying they have identified them man throwing the punches.

“We have reviewed the video tape of the incident and have identified the perpetrator,” Panthers Executive Director of Risk Management Lance Emory said in a statement posted to Twitter by Fox 46 reporter Caroline Fountain. “We are working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department to pursue charges to the fullest extent of the law.”
