After an emotional pregame ceremony at Fenway Park, which honored the victims and heroes associated with the Boston Marathon bombings and its aftermath, Red Sox DH David Ortiz took to the microphone.
Ortiz threw politically correct speech to the side, stating the following, to a surprised yet ecstatic Fenway Park crowd:
“Alright Boston. This jersey that we wear today doesn’t say Red Sox. It says Boston. We want to thank you Mayor Menino, Governor Patrick, the whole police department for the great job that they did this past week. This our fuckin’ city! And nobody is going to dictate our freedom. Stay strong! Thank you.”
NESN did not apologize for Ortiz’ language on the broadcast.
