An emotional Doc Rivers praised the City of Boston and Celtics fans after coaching his first game as an ex-Celtics head coach Wednesday night at TD Garden.
“It was just a really nice day,” a choked up Rivers said in his postgame press conference. “It’s just such a classy place here.
“I tell people all the time, people don’t get Boston, they really don’t understand,” Rivers continued. “I think you’ve got to be part of it to get it. I really do. I don’t think you can get it from the outside.”
