Video: ‘Rat City’ rap video pays tribute to Allston

A scene from A scene from “For the Love of Allston Rat City.”

A new rap video about life in Allston expresses hate for hipsters and vegan eateries but love for the rat-filled streets of the eclectic Boston neighborhood.

“For the Love of Allston Rat City,” by Boston-based rap artists MC Blindspot, Pappy Ko B, Moneylicious and $ongbird, was shot on the streets of Allston and released on YouTube on Sept. 14.

Some lyrics include: “Got a vegan place on every single corner/Kung-fu bubble tea mixed with some yoga/What’s a rat to do got the real hunger pains/Scope a drunken frat boy droppin’ some wings/ Silly ass hipster you can keep that falafel/Got the scent of a cheeseburger up in my nostril.”

The song is meant to pay tribute to Allston, according to thevideo’s creators, who wrote in the YouTube description section: “MC Blindspot returns in this tribute to Allston from the perspective of our beloved rats featuring Pappy B. Ko Moneylicious and the foxylicious $ongbird. And, of course, the Allston Vidi-hos bringing sexy back to… Allston Rat City Forever!”
