Video: RI news crew attacked by woman, dogs

A woman was due in a Providence court Wednesday after being arrested on assault charges for allegedly attacking a reporter and cameraman from Providence news station WLNE.

The ABC6 reporter was on the sidewalk Tuesday trying to get a comment from Melissa Lawrence, whose daughter was recently shot in the back. A man had just been arrested for the shooting.

As the news crew approached Lawrence, she threw a rock at the cameraman. She then goes inside and comes back out with a baseball bat as she yells at the news crew. She then orders a pair of dogs to attack the crew.

Video shows the dogs chasing the female reporter down the street as she screams. According to ABC6, the reporter,Abbey Niezgoda, was bit on the forearm by one of the dogs. She received a tetanus shot.
