VIDEO: The worst Black Friday stampedes

Aggressive crowds desperate for Black Friday sales have long been a deadly problem on the biggest shopping day of the year.

These incidents occurred often enough to spark a website, BlackFridayDeathCount.com, which keeps a running tally of injuries and deaths associated with the day. According to the site, four people have been killed in shopping-related incidents since 2006.

The most recent death was Walter Vance who was trampled after he collapsed at a Target store as the stores opened. In 2012, two people were shot in a Walmart parking lot during a dispute over a parking space.

A simple search on YouTube returns numerous videos of frantic shoppers pushing and shoving each other to get to discounted merchandise. In a modern world with online shopping and Cyber Monday deals, it seems shocking Black Friday stampedes still regularly occur. As more major stores continue to extend their hours into Thanksgiving night, many consumers seem to be more determined to get their hands on products as early as possible.
