VIDEO: Wrong turn for drunken driver in Queens leads to angry Colombia soccer fans

Saturday was a good day for fans of the Colombia soccer team when they beat Uruguay to advance to the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup. In Queens, many fans flocked Steinway Street dressed in Colombian colors, cheering and screaming. But when a drunk driver took the wrong turn, their revelry turned to anger.

A videomaking the rounds on the Internet shows a mob of Colombia fans attacking a white BMW Z4 as it crawls through the crowd. The fans kick at the panels, smash in the rear windshield and one man even climbs on top of the car. Eventually, the car speeds off. Ironically, the driver was arrested.

Police officials confirmed that the driver, Jose Jiminez, was arrested around 6:50 p.m. on charges of reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated. Jiminez had gone around barriers that were set up to cordon off the street from traffic. He hit at least 12 pedestrians with his car. None of them were injured seriously.
