A Metro unscientific survey of some of the best sports writers and editors in town has come to this conclusion: No university in recent memory has assembled a team as badass as this years Rutgers University football squad.


And many of them were barred from the field Saturday for the season opener at High Point Solutions Stadium in Piscataway, N.J.

Here's the rundown of who the team was down and who's in trouble


Five players have been arrested, including one for home invasions.
Cornerback Andre Boggs was charged with armed robbery and other chasrges in two home invasions.Defensive backNadir Barnwell,cornerback Ruhann Peele, safety Delon Stephenson and fullback Razohnn Gross have been charged with assault and riot charges stemming from an April 25 brawl that left one student with a broken jaw.


Curfew Violations
Wide receiver Leonte Carroo, quarterback Chris Laviano were suspended for violating curfew during training camp.

Defensive tackle Darius Hamilton, a team standout, is on the injured list.

Head Coach Kyle Flood scandal
Flood allegedly had impermissible contact with a professor and is being investigated.


The Scarlet Knights played Norfolk State Saturday -- and despite all their troubles trounced them63-13.
