The video of a chair-throwing fight at a City Island seafood restaurant is going viral.
Police are investigating the incident thatstarted at about9:45 p.m. Thursday, according to the New York Daily News. A short video of the brawl at Seafood City on the small Bronx island appeared online Friday.
The nearly one-minute clipshows people hurling chairs at each other, sometimesat close range.
"They were swinging chairs left to right, people on the floor," witness Samantha Daniels told NBC4. "People had their kids, running.
Police are investigating, but no one from the eatery reported the incident to the NYPD, according to the Daily News.
John Doyle of the City Island Civic Association told NBC4 the State Liquor Authority is investigating the incident and restaurant.
Marjorie Velazquez of Community Board 10 also told the station that theSLA should consider pulling the license as the establishment"is a restaurant where many families come with small children."
According to Doyle, the community has been “addressing issues at Seafood City for some time now," according to the Daily News, while Joseph Fitzroy, who lives across the street, told NBC4, " Anytime a lot of people here, always incidents. Fights, a lot of drinking."
Community members reportedly would like to see security at establishments like Seafood City, and have asked the NYPD about the use of uniformed, off-duty police officers.
Seafood City did not immediately respond to either outlet for a request for comment. It wasn't clear what sparked the fight.
