The bulls of Pamplona have once again had their revenge.
Two Americans and one Brit, were gored on the first day of the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
No names were released but the AP said one human victim gored in the armpit was 27 and from California. The others were only described as a 38-year-old American and a 30-year-old Brit gored in the groin.
The gore victims are in hospital in serious condition. Eight others also reportedly suffered injuries in the 2-minute, 23-second run.
The festival lasts a week with a bull run every day at 8 a.m. -- an annual event decried by animal rights groups.
Half-naked protestors from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and AnimaNaturalis demonstated over the weekend before the run.
AFP reported they held signs reading "Pamplona's streets are stained with bull's blood" in several languages.
"Dozens of bulls suffer injuries while participants follow them, hit them and terrorize them along the route to their death," they said in a statement.
