If you're a Star Wars fan and you're not already off Thursday, sit down and call in sick.


That's because, while you slept, Force Friday events have already started.

Force Friday is the day that more than 1,000 stores nationwide will open just after midnight Thursday (12:01 a.m. Friday), giving the geek nation its first chance to buy the myriad new toys tied to this December's release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There are unboxing events streaming from around the world on YouTube (see video embedded above) through 12 noon EDT; the live NYC event starts at 8:30 a.m, All will be repeated on the YouTube channel.

There's all sorts of new figurines, an updated star destroyer, legos galore and oh so much more.

The Global Toy Unboxing Live Stream Event is running 18 hours in 15 cities and 12 countries.
