A little girl from Schenectady who survived a fire that killed nearly her entire family and left her horribly scarred only wants one thing for the holidays: Christmas cards.

Safyre Terry, 8, was the only survivor of a fire the took the lives of her three siblings and her father, who protected her from the fire by using his body.

“She was 5 years old at the time. The blaze burned 75 percent of her body and eventually claimed her right arm and left foot,” ABC News explained.

Terry was placed in the care of her aunt, who recently purchased her niece a small metal Christmas tree stand to hang cards from, and posted a message to social media asking for friends to send cards to the little girl.

From there the message went viral, with people from all around the country and world sending cards to little Terry.

“When the first card came in, it was like she won the lottery,” Terry’s aunt reportedly said.

MANY MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU ??

“I really think I am dehydrated from crying so much,” Terry’s aunt wrote in a Facebook post. “This is absolutely amazing, it takes my breath away. We, my family and I have been through so much darkness of this this world. Then to see the most powerful BEAUTY of the world. The world coming together to make Safyre's wish come true is unfathomable.”
