Virgin Fest rocks Olympic Park

With die-hard fans singing along and swaying to the music, this year’s
Virgin Festival rocked almost 40,000 fans for the entire weekend.

After moving to a bigger venue at Canada Olympic Park, this year’s
Virgin fest was bigger and better than last year, according to festival
director Andrew Bridge.

“People absolutely love the venue and there’s so much to do for everyone, and people are really enjoying it,” he said.

Of the biggest highlights of the weekend, Bridge pointed to rock
staples Pearl Jam, who performed for 19,000 lively fans singing along
on Saturday night.

“The Pearl Jam two-hour set was amazing and the biggest hit, all the
fans loved that. I think bringing the festival back a second time to
the city was a highlight for me.”

On Sunday, Bridge said another 15,000 to 20,000 were expected by the
end of the night to watch Billy Talent cap off the music-filled
weekend.

“I think it’s great a lot of people bought one ticket for Saturday and
then had so much fun they had to come back on Sunday,” Bridge added.

Among them was Sarah Lamonte, who initially thought she would just need a ticket for Saturday.

“I had a lot of fun and I thought it would be nice to sit back and have
a mellower day on Sunday, so I came back again,” the avid music fan
said.
