Start thinking of some acts of kindness, Boston. Mayor Marty Walsh has officially announced the next One Boston Day for April 15.

On April 15, 2013, the Boston Marathon bombings scarred the city. But now, Boston residents have responded to the anniversary of the tragedy with a day of kindness and generosity.

Now known as One Boston Day, April 15 is a day for random acts of kindness and the spreading of goodwill. The first event occurred in 2015 and Walsh permanently declared April 15 as One Boston Day in 2016.

This year marks the fourth One Boston Day and five years since the bombings.

Walsh officially announced this year’s event on Monday while at the unveiling of the 2018 Boston Marathon street banners on Boylston Street, four weeks away from the marathon.

“One Boston Day has turned the Marathon into a movement our entire city has rallied around, spreading the message of kindness and goodwill across the world,” Walsh said in a statement. “April 15 will forever be a day that represents the resilience of the human spirit, and I hope everyone can mark this day in a way that showcases the very best of our city and its people.”

Individuals and organizations can share their One Boston Day plans on onebostonday.org and on social media with the hashtag #OneBostonDay.
