When was the last time you played with bubbles? When you were 5 years old? When your own kid begged you to blow bubbles outside with her? Whatever your answer is, you won’t want to miss Saturday’s bubble gala.

From 1 to 3 p.m. on July 15, soapy suds aficionados will gather in Washington Square Park and indulge in one of childhood’s greatest and cheapest pastimes: blowing bubbles on a hot summer day. Nearly 10,000 people have RSVPed to the free Billion Bubble Party on Facebook, but the crowd could swell to much more than that, with over 50,000 people saying they’re interested.

With mostly sunny skies and just enough wind to nudge your bubbles along, it’ll be the perfect day for this summer-perfect ritual. Just show up at the fountain for some classic-all ages fun.

Bubbles are not provided, so get creative with your bubble-making arsenal, whether that’s a bubble wand shaped like flowers and animals, hoop-size jumbo wands, and even multicolor LED bubble shooters. If you haven’t checked into the state of bubble-making technology lately, get ready to be amazed.

For $14.99, 3-year-olds and up can toddle around and push the “Sizzlin’ Cool Bubble Lawn Mower,”, which doesn’t actually cut grass but it sure does blow a lot of bubbles! Looking for something big kids like you can enjoy? Dinosaur fans can get their friendly roar on with the Haktoys Dinosaur Bubble Shooter. The $9.95 dino-shaped bubble blower lights up and even growls!

This isn’t the first bubble party thrown — er, blown? —  in Manhattan. Two years ago, dating app Happn sponsored the Union Square Park Bubble Party to guide NYC singles to romance. Check out the one in Union Square three years ago:
