Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes.
Want to make a change in 2015? Start a new career or return to the workforce? Then learn more about the affordable training programs the Center for Economic and Workforce Development offers at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY.
Believe You Can, And You Will.
The Northeast Resiliency Consortium (NRC) trainings will begin in March 2015 and will continue to prepare individuals for employment and career advancement in the high-growth sectors of health care and culinary arts.
The Community Healthcare Worker (CHW) training program prepares students to work within their communities as patient advocates, health educators and liaisons between the community and existing health/social services at large. CHW students are introduced to a variety of health related themes that prepare them for this multi-faceted position, including the relationship between health and human behavior, managing high-risk behaviors and disease prevention. National certification in CPR is included.
The Culinary Arts training program provides students with hands-on training in food preparation and the skills to earn state and nationally recognized certificates in Food Safety and Food Production. Students will be introduced to the various components of the Food Service Industry, including fundamental cooking terminology, techniques and theories. Participants who successfully complete this program will earn their National Restaurant Association’s ServSafe® Food Handler certification and the NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate. Credits earned can be applied to a Culinary Arts associate of applied science degree at Kingsborough Community College.
