Watch Carly Simon perform with the Gorillaz in Boston

Carly Simon

Fans were happy and feeling like sunshine at the Gorillaz sold-out show in Boston this week, especially after a local music legend joined the fun.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Carly Simon took a break from hanging out at her Martha’s Vineyard home to perform with the virtual band during their concert at the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on Wednesday night. The “You’re So Vain” star crooned on stage with Gorillaz singer Damon Albarn as they performed the track “Ticker Tape” from the band’s new album “Humanz,” which features Simon on vocals.

According to a post on Simon’s Instagram account, the 72-year-old Grammy and Oscar winner spent some time with Albarn before taking the stage on Wednesday night. The Gorillaz star seemed to be pretty pumped for his chill hang out session with the legend backstage.

The fans seemed to have enjoyed the impromptu team-up just as much as the musicians, as Simon shared an epic fan photo from the evening on her personal social media account.

In addition to Simon, the Gorillaz’s “Ticker Tape” track also features vocals by Colombian-American, indie pop performer Kali Uchis. Check out the full song below.
