Another weekend drawing to a close, another weekend sans a new episode of Saturday Night Live(which won’t return — and even then minus some heavy hitters — until fall). Don’t the people over at NBC know that we rely on freshly DVR-ed episodes of SNL to get us through those Sunday night blues??
Luckily, for those in need of a comedy fix to stave off the back-to-work anxiety earned from a long holiday weekend spent drinking [heavily] in the sun — not sure if you’ve checked the Internet lately but but it’s really hot out there, says everyone — we came across this just-released new Lonely Island video in our daily slog through cyber space in search of entertaining Internet morsels.
The video for “We Need Love,” a track off their just-dropped new album Wack Album, is a throwback to the comedy trio’s early “Just 2 Guyz,” with Jorma Tacone and Akiva Schaffer reprising their roles as the 2 guyz who came to P-A-R-T-Y…awkwardly. This time around, they came to find L-O-V-E (not S-E-X, okay)…awkwardly. And the results are similarly awesome. Awkwardly awesome.
If you’re like us, and think that the mostly Lonely Island written/produced digital shorts have consistently been the best things on SNL of late — with the exception of Stefon, we heart Stefon forever and ever — then this should help ease you into your work week. We’ve already watched it three times because, hey, Sunday.
