A video posted Tuesday night by a Brooklyn watchdog group shows an NYPD officer taking a visibly pregnant woman to the ground on her stomach, and handcuffing her behind her back.
According to the NYPD the woman, later identified as Sandra Amezquita, attempted to intervene while officers from the 72nd precinct attempted to apprehend a 17-year-old male who had a gravity knife.
The teen was arrested on changes of criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and harassment. Two other adult males were arrested on the same charges.
Amezquita was given a summons to appear on charges of disorderly conduct. The NYPD said Wednesday the arrest and incident is being investigated by the Internal Affairs Bureau.
According to the Daily News, Amezquita is five months pregnant.
The same group, called El Grito De Sunset Park, posted a video last week showing an officer kicking a street vendor in the back while being handcuffed. The officer has been suspended by Commissioner Bill Bratton.
