Halifax Regional Police say there were no apparent targets in two seemingly random shooting incidents in the Spryfield area over the weekend.
The first shooting happened around 5 a.m. Saturday morning, when police say witnesses heard what they believed was a car backfiring in the 500 block of Herring Cove Road. A few hours later, officers were called to a nearby apartment building after tenants discovered a bullet lodged in a closet shelf. The bullet had apparently also passed through a window casing and a wall. No one was injured in the incident.
The second shooting occurred Saturday around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lemon Walk and Greystone Drive. Witnesses told police three males fired three shots from a four-door, dark-blue hatchback travelling along Lemon Walk. Two shell casings were later discovered in the area, but no damage or injuries were reported. The suspects are described as black males, one of whom had shoulder-length hair.
According to Staff Sgt. Don Fox, no one has been arrested in connection with either incident. While they occurred within blocks of each other, Fox said it is “too early to even speculate” if they are related.
