Sydney Leathers gave an interview on “Inside Edition” last night.
Sydney Leathers, the woman at the center of the latest sexting scandal involving Anthony Weiner, said in a televised interview last night that Weiner told her he loved her and that she once cared about him, but she is now “disgusted by him.”
“I feel sick about it. I’m disgusted by him. He is not who I thought he was,” the 23-year-old Illinois native told “Inside Edition.”
Leathers said she first sent Weiner a Facebook message in June 2011 after he resigned from Congress, criticizing his behavior.
Weiner reached out to Leathers a year later with a Facebook poke, Leathers said. The relationship changed quickly after that, she said.
The two exchanged sexual text messages, including “very explicit” photos that Leathers said Weiner sent voluntarily.
“I was absolutely shocked that he was willing to do that. And the fact that it was his idea is even more shocking,” she said.
Leathers said they also had phone sex twice a week.
“I think it was a fantasy thing for both of us,” she said.
“You told Anthony Weiner that you loved him?” host Jim Moret asked Leathers.
“Yes,” Leathers replied.
“Did he tell you he loved you?”
“Yes.”
When asked if she loved Weiner, the college sophomore replied, “Maybe not loved, but I definitely cared about him.”
The relationship ended last November, Leathers said. She believes Weiner was jealous that other men were leaving messages on her Facebook page.
He reached out to her again just four months ago, when he was planning to announce his run for mayor.
“Do me a solid. Can you hard delete all our chats here,” he texted her.
“Obviously I knew that he wanted me to erase any evidence of our conversations, because that was around the time I knew that he was going to run for mayor,” Leathers said.
Leathers also said in the interview that Weiner had referred to himself as a “an argumentative, perpetually horny middle-aged man.”
