It’s just one week until Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and that means one week till crop tops, high-waist booty shorts and lots of headdresses. For some attendees, that also means one week to lose weight or get in shape for the festival (the two don’t always go hand-in-hand).
We got wind of the Coachella Diet from health site Well + Good – college students told the site they’re concerned about how their bodies will stack up next to all of the other concert-goers.
Fitness teachers Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboo told the site that their clients amp up their workouts as the festival arrives. The two launched a 30-day competition called “Cut by Coachella,” a workout calendar for people preparing for the festival. Their linked Facebook page for “Cut by Coachella” has since been taken down.
In all seriousness, the Coachella Diet does seem to be sort of a real thing. Before it started trending, a few Twitter users wrote things like, “at least going to weekend 2 for the first time means an extra week for my #coachelladiet” and “While everyone is drinking green beer for St. Patricks Day, I am drinking green sludge. #coachelladiet.”
