Sorry, Keith Olbermann, there’s only one ousted TV host we’re going to write about today, and that’s Regis Philbin.
According to TMZ.com, Philbin didn’t decide to retire as he announced last week on “LIVE! with Regis and Kelly” — he’s leaving due to a contract dispute.
Sources say that since “LIVE!” hasn’t been performing as well as it has in the past, Philbin was asked to take a pay cut (he makes between $18 and $20 million a year, reports the site).
Angry at what he perceived as a slight, Philbin, 79, decided to leave — and it seems he didn’t tell co-host Kelly Ripa of his plans until 15 minutes before the rest of the world, making her “furious.”
