What to do in Toronto on Canada Day

Although the city has pulled the plug on many of its planned Canada Day festivities due to the ongoing municipal workers strike, including the fireworks display at Ashbridge’s Bay, there are still plenty of events.

1. Canada Day Celebration & Citizenship Ceremony at Black Creek Pioneer Village. The highlight of the day is the citizenship ceremony where 40 immigrants will become Canadian citizens.

2. Festival of Fire at Ontario Place. The skies over Lake Ontario will light up with world-class pyrotechnics choreographed to themed music.

3. Multicultural Canada Day Festival at Yonge-Dundas Square. Folk dancing, visual arts, crafts and food stalls.

4. Harbourfront Centre celebrations. A full day of live music, free canoe rides, and film screenings.

5. Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto celebrations. Enjoy lion dances, charity sales, arts and crafts and music

6. CHIN International Picnic. Entertainment by Polish, Chinese and South American talent at the CNE Bandshell.

7. Toronto Ribfest at Centennial Park. From live music, beer tents, ribs and fireworks, the Rotary Club of Etobicoke hosts at 256 Centennial Park Rd.
