Wheelchair-bound purse snatcher sought in Manhattan

Police are searching for a man in a wheelchair who they say has snatched at least three purses in Midtown.

Cops say the suspect grabs the bags when the victim is not looking.

The first incident occurred Aug. 19 inside the Marriott Marquis Hotel when the man removed an unattended bag containing an iPod, necklace and money.

He struck again Aug. 30 inside Nobu restaurant on West 57th Street. The victim, 34, noticed her bag missing after she hung it up underneath the bar, police said. It contained credit cards and money.

The most recent incident occurred Sept. 3 inside Havana Central Restaurant on West 46th Street. A woman, 40, placed her bag on an empty chair and got up to dance. When she returned, the bag was gone. It contained a wallet, credit cards and money.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in a wheelchair.
