When does the iPhone 8 come out?

New Apple headquarters

There have been plenty of Apple rumors surrounding the iPhone 8 release date and diehard Apple fans can’t wait to get their hands on Apple’s latest product. So, when does the iPhone 8 come out?

This year is special for Apple and the iPhone: It marks the 10 year anniversary of the first model of this now-ubiquitous smart phone. That’s right, the mobile device that has changed the way we communicate came out a decade ago, already. (Do you feel old now?)

As for the iPhone 8, we expect Apple to have a special event to announce the release of their latest model. The 10th-anniversary event will be held at Apple’s new campus in Cupertino, California at the Steve Jobs Theater. During the event, expect to see Apple also announce the release dates for the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus, though iPhone 8 is unquestionably the star of the show.

iPhone 8 rumors

This will be a special release for the brand new iPhone, so many people are speculating it will go by a name other than the iPhone 8 because of its significance such as iPhone Edition, iPhone Pro or iPhone X, to mark the 10-year anniversary. The iPhone X might be confusing to some since the model is only the eight iPhone created.

Other iPhone 8 rumors that have been creating a buzz include a redesign, significant changes to the camera, a glass body, wireless charging, facial recognition, OLED screen and new color options including “Blush Gold” color that is said to replace the Rose Gold color that’s currently available.

iPhone 8 release date predictions

Expert Apple iPhone analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has a list of features the new iPhone 8 will have. To many, he is considered to be the “best Apple analyst on the planet” because of his abilty to be able to understand and predict the nature of Apple and how they upgrade their devices.

Full-screen design — The iPhone 8 will not have a traditional “home” button and will not support fingerprint recognition. The screen will be bezel-less, making it similar to the Samsung S8.

3D-sensing — The iPhone 8 is said to have 3D sensing to be used for facial recognition and better front-facing camera quality. Who doesn’t want to take better selfies?

Improved speaker/sound output — Ming Chi-Kuo predicts the iPhone 8 will have an improved speaker and an increase in power output for better sound quality when listening to your favorite tunes.

Better/faster charging — The iPhone 8 will use the same Lightning port, but will use a USB-C power delivery system.

iPhone 8 release date

By now, we all know Apple will hold their big reveal event on September 12 to announce the release of the iPhone 7S and 7S Plus, but people will really be tuning in to hear about the iPhone 8. As for the highly anticipated model, we should expect it to be officially released sometime in October or November according to Ming-Chi Kuo’s predictions. If true, expect the iPhone 8 to be a top item on every Apple enthusiast’s holiday wish list.
