Where to carbo-load before the Boston Marathon

Need options for where to carb-up in readiness ahead of Marathon Monday, or where to replenish your depleted glycogen, après race? We’ve got the lowdown on the city’s deals on bottomless pastas and delicious comfort food. And even if you’re not running, no one’s stopping you from indulging, too.

In east Cambridge, the annual bottomless pasta marathon menu returns to Restaurant dante in the Royal Sonesta Hotel. On Sunday, otherwise known as Marathon Eve, dante’s annual Carb It Up Bottomless Pasta Marathon includeshouse-made pastas like chitarra alla Genovese with a classic pesto sauce; tufoli al sugo di pomodoro, with tomato and basil; spicy aglio e olio spaghettoni with pine nuts and raisins; or strozzapreti con le zucchine – a thick spaghetti type pasta with zucchini and Pecorino cheese. SRV, the Venetian-inspired restaurant in the South End,mills its flour in-house for all grain-based dishes, including pastas. (Freshly ground grains retain more nutrition.) SRV’s special marathon weekend “Arsenale” all-pasta tasting menu is a selection of cicchetti (Venetian tapas or small bites) from which diners choose four dishes: tajarin, with asparagus, truffle, and butter; gnudi with morels and pecorino; maltagliati with foraged mushrooms, leeks, and Parmesan; bigoli with a duck ragu and soffritto; or a spring radish salad with asiago. For a casual fuel stop, Anthem Kitchen + Bar in Faneuil Hall has a Sunday and Monday marathon special that’s a steal: a bottomless bowl of orecchiette pasta with roasted vegetables in a light tomato-cream sauce.
