At some point, all of the estimated 140,000 Comic Con attendees will have to eat, and while the Javits food court offers a decent selection, it’s expensive — and forget about getting a table.

Leaving the con to eat will take an hour or more, but sitting at a table for a real meal may just be the thing to keep you going.

Quickest bite

Food carts selling standard street grub line the curb and neighborhood. If you’re looking for something else but still fast, Ninth Avenue has everything from pizzas to sandwiches. For brand-name fare, walk down 34th Street — you’ll hit a Wendy’s, Chipotle and Five Guys before you reach Eighth Avenue.

Group meal

With reliable service and a virtual guarantee that everyone will find something to eat, Tick Tock Diner (481 Eighth Ave.) is usually filled with costumed patrons — and even the occasional celebrity.

The options get better the farther you get, so consider these spots for your post-con dinner to recap the day’s highlights. Tavola (488 Ninth Ave.) is known for its Neopolitan pizzas, but order the meatball appetizer for something really special. McGarry’s Bar and Restaurant (417 Ninth Ave.) is among the rare spots with good, reasonably priced food and friendly bar staff. And a little trekking will land you at URBO (11 Times Square), where the menu ranges from sushi to burgers in casual and more upscale areas.

If you just can’t bear to be away from the frenzy but don’t want to pay inflated-even-by-New-York-standards prices, pack a lunch. Make sure it doesn’t have a strong smell, doesn’t require utensils, won’t be messy to eat and, most importantly, won’t go bad — so, a sandwich, just leave the egg salad and tuna at home, plus fruit and a refillable water bottle. Instead of trying to snag a table, sit in the back of what’s looking to be the least crowded panel room to eat.
