Where to watch the Oscars 2018 in New York

Whether you’re a “Lady Bird” stan or you’re holding out for “Phantom Thread” to clinch the win — not gonna happen — a sucker for Jimmy Kimmel jokes or you just have to see what everybody’s wearing, the 90th Annual Academy Awards will have something for you. If you don’t have a way to watch at home, head to these bars hosting Oscars 2018 viewing parties in NYC this Sunday, March 4 at 8 p.m.

Mr. Purple

Get cozy at Mr. Purple’s “Cabin in the Sky” winter pop-up, located on the rooftop of Hotel Indigo on the Lower East Side. Watch the Oscars on their projector screen while peeping 360 views of the Manhattan skyline (don’t worry, the bar’s enclosed). Enjoy complimentary popcorn and $15 themed drink specials, like the elegant “Four for Katharine,” (as in Hepburn) made with Creme de Peche, orange bitters, Domaine Chandon and gold flakes.

Did you know Tonya Harding is from Portland, OR aka the craft beer capital of the US? This Oscar pairing comes to you via @itonyamovie and Oregon’s @ninkasibrewing who actually has their own in-house, metal fabrication shop (let’s hope they don’t make crowbars..) #Oscarpairings #TreadwelldoesOscars #beerandmoviepairings #freepopcorn

Treadwell Park

Craft beer lovers should head to this suds mecca to watch the Academy Awards while enjoying creative brew-and-Oscars pairings, courtesy of Cicerone Anne Becerra. In honor of Greta Gerwig’s tour-de-force “Lady Bird,” (4 nominations) Becerra is serving a Berliner Style weisse oarsman from Bell’s Brewery, which is helmed by female CEO Laura Bell.  Cheer on “Get Out” director Jordan Peele with a Dead Sea-rious beer from Carakle Brewing, located in Jordan, the country, and toast Mary J. Blige’s Best Supporting Actress nomination for Mudbound with a pour from Yonkers Brewery, located in the singer’s hometown. Free popcorn all night long; Oscar ballots provided.

Le District

Toast the stars with Dom Perignon ($45/glass) or a bottle of Moet ($55) at Bar a Vin, located inside the French food hall Le District in the Financial District. If you guess all of the winners correctly, you get a complimentary meal at Le District’s restaurant, Beaubourg (up to $150 value). Bonne chance!

Littlefield

the skint is back for the fourth year in a row with a free Oscars viewing party at Littlefield. They’re rolling out an actual red carpet, setting up a photobooth and providing Oscar ballots, drink specials and one complimentary glass of champagne. Unlimited popcorn, but if you need more sustenance, you can order tacos from El Atoradero, located around the corner at Littlefield’s sister bar Parklife — which is hosting its own party, if you want to double up.

Northern Territory

Attention, Meryl Streep stans: At Greenpoint tavern Northern Territory, the wacky Meryl Streep Instagram fan account Taste of Streep is hosting its second annual Oscars watch party devoted to “The Post” Best Actress nominee. Watch the Academy Awards while surrounded by Streep-themed decor, play Meryl Streep-themed trivia during commercial breaks, win Streepy prizes. It’s a whole thing. Free entry, first come, first served.

Videology

The Williamsburg bar and cinema will show the Oscars at the bar and in their back screening room. A drinking game and drink specials will keep you entertained, and the crowd is sure to be filled with film nerds that can give you good trivia.
