Knicks 129, Nuggets 125
1 Guess who? — Amare Stoudemire started slow for the second consecutive home game but once again heated up when it mattered most. Stoudemire, who registered a team-record, eighth straight 30-point game, netted 14 in the third quarter when the Knicks turned a one-point deficit into an eight-point lead. “He’s balling this season, nobody’s stopping him,”?Nene said.
2 Don’t need your help — Maybe the Knicks don’t need Carmelo Anthony after all, not with the way the supporting cast is playing on their eight-game winning streak. Wilson Chandler was responsible for five of the team’s 13 3-pointers, including the go-ahead bomb with 30 seconds left in the game. Chandler finished with 27 points, while Raymond Felton added 19 points and 17 assists with only two turnovers.
3 Trade talks — There was plenty of chatter before and after the game about the Knicks adding Anthony, who finished with 31 points and 13 rebounds. Melo is clearly a top-10 player, who reportedly wants to be traded to New York, but it’d be nonsense for the Knicks to gut their roster of promising young stars when they can possibly get Anthony for free next summer as a free agent.
