Who would do this?

He survived a harrowing two-day adventure, but a four-month-old German Shepherd named Dookie is safe at home with his family after he was allegedly stolen from his home on Friday night.

Stephanie Laroche and Bryan Roy were outraged when they discovered their dog was stolen from his Marlborough area backyard while Roy’s roommate was barbecuing.

On Sunday night, Roy’s neighbours spotted the dog with a group of teens while walking by Olympic Plaza by chance because the train was broken.

“The poor little guy was cowered in the corner and shaking, he couldn’t walk.

“We demanded they give him back and we had to carry him because his paw pads were so blistered and cut up,” neighbour Cathy Nelson said.

An elated Roy said his panic has now turned to disgust.

“I honestly think if they had him for a couple more days he would be dead. I have never seen him like that before,” Roy said.

Laroche said she can’t understand why anyone would harm Dookie.

“We took him to the vet and he will be OK, but he’s still struggling to walk, especially on hard surfaces,” she added.
