Williamsburg concert series under attack

Brooklyn 11211 blog is reporting that Community Board 1 may be trying to shut down the free Williamsburg summer concert series. This update from Courier-Life reporter Aaron Short reports that the board “likely voted to draft a resolution opposing” the concerts.

The extremely popular concerts — which attract thousands on summer weekends — are held in East River State Park on the waterfront and attract bands like Future Islands, Weezer, Modest Mouse, Gogol Bordello and Nas.

Greenpoint and Williamsburg residents complained the concerts are too loud and clog the streets with traffic and people.

Sen. Charles Schumer saved the concerts when they were threatened in the past — will he once again step in to help the hipsters?
