Willow the missing cat found after five years, across country

A lost cat will soon be reunited with its owners five years after it went missing. Willow, a friendly Calico disappeared from her Rocky Mountain home near Boulder, Colorado five years ago, but was just found in on East 20th Street in Manhattan, according to the Associated Press.

How Willow got to NYC, and in such healthy condition, remains a mystery. She was identified through a microchip that her owners had implanted when she was just a wee kitten.

Jamie Squires said she and her husband, Chris, were utterly shocked when they got the call from Animal Care and Control that Willow had been found in NYC.

She said her family tried to find Willow when she first went missing, but they eventually gave up hope and had assumed she was gobbled up by coyotes.

Willow will now head back to Colorado where she will share her home with a yellow Labrador named Roscoe and an English mastiff named Zoe.

The streets of NYC might have been a friendlier place for a cat than a house with two dogs.

Good luck, Willow!
