Wintry mix, cold temperatures to start off last week in 2015

New Yorkers are expected to finally get a taste of the winter weather —or at least just for the start of next week.
According to the National Weather Service, New York City is expected to get its first wintry mix of rain and sleet Monday night starting at around 8 p.m.
The frozen precipitation is expected to stay until the warmer air comes into the city turning the mix into just rain, which will last until late Tuesday afternoon or evening.
With temperatures only reaching the low 40s during the day on Monday, this is the first winter weather of the season for the Big Apple, said Faye Barthold, NWS meteorologist.
“It will feel quite cold to people, even though it’s normal for this time of year,” Barthold said. “It’s a lot closer to what it should be.”
The rest of the week is forecasted to have temperatures between the mid-40s and mid-50s, with chances of rain returning for Wednesday night.
New York City saw record-breaking temperatures on Christmas Eve with numbers hitting as high as 68 degrees — beating a record of 63 degrees back in 1996.
