Police from various agencies, both local and state, responded to the scene in Woburn where an officer was shot after several suspects allegedly robbed a local jewelry store just after 11 a.m this morning.
According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office, officer Robert Denapoli, 51, a 16-year veteran of the Woburn Police
Department, was shot by one of the suspects.

Witnesses at the scene said they heard between six and 10 shots fired near the intersection of Russell And Cambridge Streets in the Boston suburb. The robbery occurred at Musto Jewlers in the Four Corners sections of Woburn.
Another witness said they saw one suspect run across the street with a handgun.
It is the second time less than a year that a Woburn police officer was shot during a robbery attempt.
