Woman fights off attempted rapist near Prospect Park

A woman walking on a Brooklyn street near Prospect Park was attacked by a suspect who attempted to rape her before fleeing when the victim fought back.

Shortly before 4 a.m. on Sunday, a 34-year-old woman was walking in front of 586 16th St. when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man, police reported.

The suspect lifted up the victim’s dress and pulled down her underwear, knocking the woman to the ground and striking her body repeatedly in an attempt to sexually assault her, police stated.

The victim kicked at the subject until he fled on 16th Street, officials added. The woman refused medical attention.

Police described the suspect as approximately 20 to 30 years old, 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and slacks.

This assault came after several recent attempted rapes around Prospect Park. On May 22, a woman walking on Second Streetwas thrown to the ground in an attempted rapethat ended when her attacker fled as she fought back, and a few days later,another woman was attacked by two menin a similar incident.
