File

A woman’s body was discovered on Revere Beach Thursday morning, according to Massachusetts State Police.

State police are investigating after receiving a call around 6 a.m. Thursday alerting them to the body, which was found by a person walking along the beach near Shirley Avenue.

The body showed no obvious signs of trauma, officials said. It has been removed from the scene in order to undergo an autopsy by the chief medical examiner.

State police have “tentatively identified” the woman but are withholding her name. Her relatives have not yet been notified.

Sources told WBZ that the deceased woman is in her 30s and from Mattapan. No more information has been released by officials at this time.

The death is being investigated by the State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County.
