A woman walking to work early Wednesday morning was slashed on the face by a stranger, CBS reports.

The incident reportedly occurred on 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue in Chelsea around 5:50 a.m.
After the attack the woman sought help in Malibu Diner on 23rd Street.
“She was bleeding a lot, she was crying she walked in and she said that somebody slashed her in the face,” diner employee Alex Ramirez told CBS “She said that she was walking by going to her job and then a person came out from out of nowhere.”
The victim was treated at Bellevue Hospital for the wounds to her face.
Police say the attack was random.
“The suspect is possibly homeless and is described as a black man in his 20s or 30s, and about 5’7″ to 5’10” tall.” CBS reports. “He was wearing a red jacket, green hoodie, white Adidas sweatpants and white Adidas sneakers.”
Police will be examining local surveillance footage in their investigation.
