Miguel Andujar, the New York Yankees’ 22-year-old infield prospect was somewhat written off after the team acquired Brandon Drury from the Arizona Diamondbacks.
After New York traded away Chase Headley and let Todd Frazier walk in free agency, Andujar was a favorite to take over as the team’s starting third baseman on Opening Day despite having played just five games at the major-league level.
Suddenly, following Drury’s acquisition and the team’s bevy of infielders including Gleyber Torres, Tyler Wade and Ronald Torreyes to compete for time at second and third, Andujar’s standing on the big-league roster was even questioned by some.
Those questions should probably stop after the start Andujar has had in spring training.
In 12 at-bats, the Yankees youngster was batting .500 with four home runs, including two on Thursday against the Philadelphia Phillies in two-consecutive at-bats on two-consecutive pitches.

If there’s one team that isn’t in need of any additional power, it’s the Yankees considering they’ll be trotting out Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez every day. But everything is coming up Pinstripes right now.
Good luck to new manager Aaron Boone, who will have to try and fit Andujar in the lineup consistently if he continues to rip it up this spring.
