The Yankees went from having one of the weakest farm systems in all the land, to having one of the top ones within a week. At the buzzer of the MLB trade deadline Monday, the final domino fell as Brian Cashman shipped starting pitcher Ivan Nova to the Pirates. Jon Heymanwas the first to report the move. Nova has a 7-6 record this season with a 4.90 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP.
The 29-year-old had been with the Yankees his entire career.
It is not yet known exactly what the Yanks will receive in return in terms of prospects.
