A betting site is running odds that Heather Mills, Paul McCartney’s estranged wife, will lose her artificial leg on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars.
LEGLESS: An online betting site is running odds on a wager that Heather Mills, the estranged wife of Paul McCartney, will lose her artificial leg while competing on the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, according to a Reuters story.
The leg “must fall off, not be purposely taken off, during a dance routine for all Yes wagers to be graded a win,” according to the bodog.com site, a gaming web site based in Antigua. Odd favoured Mills’ leg staying on, though she told EXTRA last week that if it did “it would be quite funny to knock one of the judges out.”
Other TV wagers hosted on the site included the likelihood of Fox canceling all of its new shows, regardless of ratings, in favour of a raft of summer reality shows involving amputees and rabid animals (fair to even), Rosie O’Donnell claiming that she’s the father of Anna Nicole Smith’s baby (8 to 1), and nude photos of at least half of the final 12 American Idol contestants hitting the internet in the next month (20 to 1, improving to 12 to 1 if Paula Abdul is involved.)
RIPPED FROM THE HEADLINES: The stories of Lisa Nowak, the murderously jealous astronaut, and Anna Nicole Smith will be given the Law & Order: Criminal Intent treatment later this year, with the Smith saga hitting the air in May, according to a story on the Fox News website. Kristy Swanson, the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will play the doomed Smith, while her lawyer/husband Howard K. Stern will be played by Jon Lovitz. (You’ve come a long way, Ducky.)
BABY’S ON FIRE: NBC is adapting a British reality show that gives teenage couples a crash course in life, challenging the youngsters with the task of taking care of a baby, a toddler, a pre-teen, another teenager, and a senior citizen. According to a Variety story, the U.S. network is adapting Baby Borrowers, a BBC show that hit the headlines in a flurry of controversy when it debuted in January.
“There was initial consternation from some organizations about the notion of ‘lending babies to teenagers for a reality show,’ ” Richard McKerrow, the executive producer of the British show, told Variety via email. “However, those criticisms were made by people before they had seen the show and without asking us about the extensive and impeccable health and safety measures put in place.” Well, if that’s the case, I’m not watching.
ROCK STAR: Angela Gallippi of Bravo has informed me that the Chris Rock episode of Inside The Actor’s Studio that I mentioned in yesterday’s column, and which debuted on U.S. Bravo Monday night, will get its airing here on May 6th.
