Arizona man arraigned for transporting meth through Boston-Logan Airport

An Arizona man was arraigned for allegedly bringing about a pound of crystal methamphetamine through Boston Logan Airport.

The Defendant, Micah Gibson, 38, was arraigned in east Boston municipal court on one count of trafficking in more than 200 grams of methamphetamine.

According to officials, Gibson had been identified during an investigation and was suspected of transporting large quantities of methamphetamine from Phoenix to Boston.

Assistant District attorney, Emily Hamrock recommend that he be held on $150,000 cash bail and ordered to surrender his passport and wear a GPS monitor if he posts that amount. However, a judge imposed a $75,000 bail instead, still with the requested conditions.

According the StateTroopers and the Drug Eforcement Administration, the man had allegedly retrieved a checked bag from the carousel and went into the men’s room. When troopers approached him and inquired about his travel plans, he was said to have had answers that were “inconsistent and evasive.”

At this point the officials read Gordon his rights. The defendant’s bags were then searched and troopers and agents recovered 448 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine.

Gibson will return to court on July 27th.
