The State Fire Marshal announced that the fire that destroyed the Charlton Orchards Farm and Winery was no accident.

Late Saturday, a massive blaze inhaled the winery located at 44 Old Worcester Road on land chartered to Bay State setters from King George in 1733.

Fire Marshal Stephen Coan determined that the fire was deliberately after ruling out all other scenarios. As a result of these findings, investigators are asking for the public’s help and are teamed up with The Arson Hotline, which is part of the Arson Watch Reward Program. They have a reward system for information that could earn a tipster up to $5,000.

They can be reached 24 hours a day at 1-800-682-9229.

The fire is being jointly investigated by the Charlton Fire Department, the Charlton Police Department, as well as the State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
