Hey Boston, do you need a hug after all this election news?Jenny Slate’s arms will be wide open to those who need some consoling tonight.

Slate, a Milton native, will be at the Brookline Booksmith Thursday with her father, Ron Slate for a reading. The two are promoting their book, “About the House,” that details the history and memories of the Slate family colonial home just outside of Boston.

Jenny Slate took to Twitter ahead of the event to let any Boston-area fans know she’ll be ready and waiting to give out hugs.

The first 50 customers in line for the reading will also receive free copies of “About the House.” Concord Free Press, the publisher of the book, asks in return that those patrons make a donation to a charity or give money to someone in need in exchange, and pass the book on when they’re done.
Theevent starts at 7 p.m.at Brookline Booksmith, 279 Harvard St.. Brookline, Massachusetts.
