MBTA Police seek selfie-taker who delayed service Wednesday night

MBTA Police are asking for the public’s help to find a man they said walked onto the tracks at Aquarium station in order to take a selfie.

Authorities said the suspect made the move just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, causing a delay in service for some passengers.

A number of officers were dispatched to find the man, though he was not found.

Investigators said their preliminary investigation suggested the man was seeking a selfie in the tunnel, though it’s unclear what brought them to that conclusion.

“This type of behavior will not be tolerated,” a statement from the department read. “This criminal act could have turned deadly, it placed [transit]officers and MBTA employees in harm’s way and greatly inconvenienced our riding public.”

Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to contact the department’s criminal investigations unit at 617-222-1050.
