Notre Dame looked as though it was about to break open the first Thursday game of the 2015NCAA tournament midway through the second half, but 14th-seeded Northeastern, playing in its first tourney since 1991, made the third-seeded Irish sweat heavily. The Huskies had the ball with under 10 seconds left with a chance to tie or take the lead but NU turned in one of its worst possessions of the game and was not able to get a shot off as Notre Dame took it, 69-65, in Pittsburgh. Notre Dame held a 31-27 lead at the half.
Scott Eathertonled the Huskies with 18 points while David Walker chipped in with 15.
