Nate Ebner's August will likely be a lot different than that of his Patriots' peers as the New England safety started to train for the Team USA rugby for the 2016 Rio Olympic games.
The Olympic rugby competition runs from Aug. 6-11 and the Patriots will be entrenched in training camp at that time. The Pats gave Ebner their blessing nonetheless on Tuesday, tweeting, "We are proud to support @Natebner34 in his effort to earn a place on the United States National Rugby team."
Ebner was an All-America rugby player at Ohio State and the Pats took a flier on him in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Ebner attempted a drop onside kick against the Eagles this past season, but the Patriots were unsuccessful in recovering the kick (see video highlights above).
